New to NFTs and crypto? Welcome! This guide will walk you through each step of getting a Gargoyle, no matter what level of experience you have.

This guide is designed for use on desktop/laptop.

Gimme Castle is a new type of game where you need a Gimme Gargoyles NFT to play.

The NFT replaces the subscription model you'd normally find in these types of games - and because you have full ownership of your Gargoyles, you can sell or trade them whenever you want, as well as contribute to the community and game development. It's a new world of co-design and ownership for players!

How much do you know about NFTs?

An NFT is like a receipt that proves you own something - it could be anything from images to music, or even a physical object or ticket to an event.

This receipt is stored on a blockchain - basically a record of transactions that are maintained across many computers, so that these records can never be changed or corrupted.

A Gimme Gargoyles NFT represents your ownership of a specific character that gives you access to the Gimme Castle game, and is your playable character within the game.

First you'll need a MetaMask wallet, a browser extension which will store your crypto and NFTs online.

As with any tech, there are scammers who will try to take advantage of the new and unaware in the NFT space. So now that you have a wallet, theres a little bit of boring stuff to make you super duper aware of so you can keep your crypto and Gargoyles safe.

Understood, now Gimme some Gargoyles!

NEVER respond to direct messages on any platform asking for personal info, passwords, seed phrases, asking you to follow links, or to connect your wallet anywhere.

Don’t click a link unless you 100% know and trust the person who sent it to you, and that their account is genuine and has not been compromised.

Great! Next you'll need to add Ether (ETH) to your wallet. Ether is the cryptocurrency of the Ethereum blockchain, which is the one Gargoyles live on.

We're going to use the most straightforward tools within MetaMask to buy ETH using a debit/credit card. Once you're more familiar with NFTs and crypto you may want to explore other methods of buying crypto, which you can explore with the button below.

For now though, let's use the easiest method. But how much will you need?

You will need to buy at least 0.09 ETH for each Gargoyle, plus some extra for the Ethereum blockchain's transaction fee called 'gas' or 'GWEI'.

The amount needed will vary depending on how busy the network is, click the button below if you want to learn more about that, but for now, adding an extra 0.02 should be ok.

The amount of your native currency that 0.09ETH represents will vary too, but when purchasing and transferring you will always be able to see both your native currency amount and the ETH amount.

Now that you know how much ETH you need, it's time to purchase it!

Now that you have a wallet, and have some ETH in it, it's time to get your Gargoyle! There are two ways you can do this.

'Minting' simply means recording something on the blockchain. When you mint a Gargoyle, you are creating a brand new life! The NFT will exist for the first time, and you will recieve a Gargoyle at random from the pool that are still available to mint, like a lucky dip bag.

NFTs that have already been minted by others can be viewed on marketplaces such as OpenSea. There may be some available to purchase, this way you can choose one you like the look of. Prices are set by the owner of that Gargoyle, with rarer traits normally commanding higher prices.

You want to mint a brand new Gargoyle huh? It's exciting to see what you will get! Minting happens on the Gimme Gargoyles website, press this button to open the page, then come back and press the 'ready' button.

You want to see if theres a Gargoyle already available that you might want? Click below to go to OpenSea, the largest marketplace for NFTs on Ethereum, and see what's there:

I found a Gargoyle I want!

The default view shows Gargoyles available to buy first. It's up to each owner to decide if they want to sell their Gargoyles, and at what price. Rarer traits usually command higher prices. Come back once you have found a Gargoyle you want.

NEVER use the search bar on a marketplace to find collections, you will very likely end up on a scam page, only ever access collections from links via official sources of a project.

Oh bummer, you didn't find your Gargoyle. Well not to worry, you can still mint a brand new one. Minting happens on the Gimme Gargoyles website, press this button to open the page, then come back and press the 'ready' button.

I'm ready to mint!

ALWAYS make sure you are following links from trusted sources when heading to minting websites. For best security, follow links from the official website or Discord.

Press 'Connect Wallet'

MetaMask will pop up, press 'Connect'.

Once connected, the same button on the website will now say 'Mint'.

Choose the number of Gargoyles you want and press 'Mint'.

MetaMask will popup again to let you know the gas fee and total of that transaction.

Press Confirm.

Click on the Gargoyle you want and then click 'Buy Now'

Sign in with your MetaMask wallet, confirm that you understand that this collection is 'unreviewed' i.e. not marked as 'official' by OpenSea (a collection needs 100 ETH of sales volume to qualify) then click 'Complete Purchase'.

Your transaction will then start to be written to the blockchain! You can check its progress in your MetaMask wallet, it might take a few minutes.

Congrats on your first Gargoyle! But, hmm, where is it exactly? You can't see it in your wallet right? MetaMask's browser extension can't display NFTs at the moment, but don't worry, it's definitely there! You can use the MetaMask mobile app to view your NFTs, or you can view them by signing in to a marketplace like OpenSea.
